1970s raised-ranch home in Bellingham, WA with cedar channel siding removed and reused as rainscreen battens over Benjamin Obdyke Hydrogap house wrap and 2-inch polyiso exterior insulation, finished with James Hardie siding and cedar innie window bucks on existing windows.

This 1970s raised-ranch home was upgraded with a complete high-performance wall system. The existing cedar channel siding was removed and reused as rainscreen battens, creating a ventilated air gap behind the cladding.
Over the original sheathing, a Benjamin Obdyke Hydrogap weather-resistive barrier and 2 inches of polyisocyanurate exterior insulation were installed to reduce heat loss and condensation risk.
The home’s existing windows were rebuilt with cedar “innie” window bucks so they could be properly integrated into the new wall assembly, and the exterior was finished with James Hardie siding for long-term durability.
